2022 was a great year for PlayStation Tournaments. From the glorious return of Evo to Las Vegas to the launch of PlayStation Tournaments on PS5, it was a year packed with cool tournaments and content. Here are five things we’re particularly proud of.

PlayStation Tournaments Launches on PS5

In 2022 PlayStation Tournaments finally made the leap to PS5. Players around the world were finally able to join seamless, online tournaments in FIFA 23, Guilty Gear -Strive-, and NBA 2K23. We celebrated with the biggest PlayStation Win-A-Thon ever, with prizes like DualSense Edge controllers, Pulse 3D headsets, PS5 Consoles, and more.

But that was just the beginning, With more games and features to come, expect 2023 to be the year of PlayStation Tournaments on PS5.

The FGC Arcade Summer Community Series

After three years of cancellations and online events, Evo finally returned to Las Vegas in 2022. We wanted to give our community a chance to head to Vegas and compete at the biggest fighting game tournament of them all. Enter the FGC Arcade Summer Community Series.

With nine games across five regions, the Summer Community Series was one of the biggest tournaments we’ve ever organized. Competitors from all over the world played through grueling open brackets in pursuit of the ultimate prize: a paid trip to Evo 2022. When the dust settled, some of the best players PlayStation Tournaments had to offer were on their way to Vegas.

The PlayStation Tournaments Evo Lounge Live Show

We were on the ground at Evo 2022 with our first ever in-person live show: the PlayStation Tournaments Evo Lounge. Hosted by Persia and Chastity, Evo Lounge featured 16 hours of live highlights, exclusives, interviews, and more. The show was full of great moments, but two of our favorites were interviews with FGC legend Daigo Umehara and the founders of Evo, Tom and Tony Cannon.

Women In Gaming

In 2022 we continued our Women in Gaming series, celebrating the women who have made some serious impact in esports. Astralis’s Teca and the Chicago Fire’s Kacee gave us an intimate look at competitive FIFA and what it’s like to be a pro in one of the world’s most popular games. Laurenwkr talked Madden, her love of football, and the rewarding grind of content creation. We’ve got even more Women in Gaming interviews to come, so keep a lookout for them this year.

The PlayStation Tournaments Community Discord

Looking to meet more people from the PlayStation Tournaments community? Look no further than the PlayStation Tournaments Community Discord. Arriving the same day as PlayStation Tournaments for PS5 Tournaments, the Discord is meant to be the home of PlayStation Tournaments players and fans.
