Whether you’re just getting your hands on Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate or have been playing since release, join Ketchup and Mustard for a useful refresher on the basics of Cassie Cage so you can begin your journey with one of the most popular characters in the game. Watch the video below and read more for some notable highlights on Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade’s most formidable daughter.
Character Overview
Cassie comes into Mortal Kombat 11 with a more developed style than her Mortal Kombat X debut. In particular, MK11 Cassie has better control over the green aura shadow attack abilities inherited from her father, and teams up with a shiny new drone called BLB-118 who assists and enhances her militaristic moves. Cassie’s overall design complements a range of playstyles -- zoning players will enjoy her projectiles and ability to easily close distance via Shadow Kick, while rushdown players will gravitate to her powerful grounded moves and kombos (note: one of her kombos is literally called “The Rushdown”).
In part thanks to her unique mixed skillset, Cassie made an early tournament mark at EVO 2019 with Dominique “SonicFox” McLean’s win over Ryan “Dragon” Walker. Since last summer, Cassie has managed to sit steadily at the top of tier lists throughout several updates and DLCs, fluctuating somewhere between S and A tiers. In September 2020, Competition Center casters Ketchup and Mustard rated her an A tier character, naming her mid-range space control and ability to counter-zone as her strongest points. Now just about 3 weeks after the release of Ultimate, EventHubs ranks her at a strong #6 out of 37 characters overall, showing her adaptability to change.
Cassie Cage for some reason, I just cant get a round on her this season, luckily they are few and far between but I honestly dread seeing her picked now.

More on Strengths and Variations
Some quick and dirty tips: Cassie’s Krushing Blows are a sight to behold. However, you can only use them once per match, so plan them carefully. Make sure to learn the spacing of other characters, because Cassie excels at her ability to respond with speed or create distance when needed. In an oldie but goodie guide, SonicFox himself highlights the basic strength of her L1 throw, which potentially sets up some devastating combos. Cassie overall takes time to learn, but when in the hands of a capable player, is reliable in almost any matchup.
Onto the variations: Even though the allowance of Kustom Variations in tournaments has recently changed the playing field, Cassie Cage’s stock variations are still strong. While her third variation, Sups OD, has its merits, below are Cassie’s two most used tournament variations and their basic situational strengths.
