The second and third two-day Apex Legends Master Circuit tournaments have finished. CPT has emerged victorious as they’re one step closer to being crowned the greatest Apex Legends team in PlayStation Tournaments and winning a share of $10,000 in cash prizing.
These special tournaments are intense two-day competitions where the top teams will move on to the Circuit Final. In this series, we’re interviewing the winners of each tournament to learn a bit about who they are, their strategies, and how they feel about moving forward to the Circuit Final.
CPT is: Logan (itzLoqan), Mike (DrMagick), and Nathaniel (Curiosity). Logan was a featured guest on PlayStation Tournaments’ first Apex Legends monthly live show: Dropping In. Watch his interview with hosts Raynday and GuhRL.

Hello! Can you share a bit about your journeys competing in Apex?
DrMagick: I got into competing in Apex thanks to some friends of mine. I’ve always wanted to be the best at anything I do—so it’s a constant growth cycle.
Curiosity: It wasn't until last year, when DrMagick and I participated in ALGS, that we wanted to take competing a lot more seriously and learn how to play competitive Apex. So, we started to play in tournaments and scrims.
What’s the story of your team and how you all found each other?
Curiosity: I met DrMagick solo-queuing a ranked game. I didn't meet Logan until recently in season 12.
What strategies did you come into the two-day competition with to win?
DrMagick: As for strategies—we just adjusted per game. We knew we needed to kill teams to gain more points since our first half was rough, so we molded our gameplay based on what we needed.
Curiosity: We talked about our comp team and decided to run with Ash, Bloodhound, and Bangalore. We normally play Valk, Gibby, and Wattson in other tournaments, but this was on console only, so we decided to play a more aggressive comp.
You played game one with just two players. How did you get the most out of that game and adjust your strategies to win?
DrMagick: For that game, we focused on ensuring we could gain KP by griefing with long range. We took smart third-parties if presented, and then focused on good zone placement to try and secure the win.
The team won the last three games. Did you change any strategy from game four on, or did things just start to click?
Curiosity: During game four, we realized that we needed more KP, so we decided to land with another team and ended up losing to a third-party. So during game five, we went back to landing solo playing circle.
You needed to win game six to complete the comeback and win the tournament. Did you know that going in? How did it affect the team’s mental game and composure?
Curiosity: We just wanted to win all three games even if we didn't take first place. Once we realized we took out the team in first place, we knew we had a chance at winning the whole thing.
Starting with game three, DrMagick dropped Valkyrie for Bloodhound. Why the switch?
DrMagick: Bloodhound allowed me to capitalize off Logan’s smokes and aggress. Plus, with my own aggressive movement, Logan and Curiosity were able to capitalize on damage and scans. Valk was a good choice when we were a man down and needed to be in and out. But when we had a full three, we no longer needed to play that way.
You’ve also won the third two-day tournament! That makes two in a row. To what do you owe the follow-up victory, and how will you look to secure a third win?
DrMagick: I’d attribute it to our teamwork. For our third tournament, we’re going to tighten up our gameplay a little, so we can get more points.
What advice do you have for Apex players looking to get into competing?
DrMagick: Find a team that fits your playstyle and your composure level. If everyone can mentally click together, then the lobbies become easier. It takes time for sure—but don’t give up!
Curiosity: Make sure you compete with people you enjoy playing and improving with—if you guys are really serious about it.
What about for players who might be nervous about competing?
DrMagick: Try not to be nervous—you’re going to win and lose all the time. Have fun and make sure everyone on your team has the same goals. Don’t beat yourself up if you lose and push forward with your team.
