You’ve registered for a competition. What’s next? On the day of the tournament, visit the Competition Center and log in with your PSN Account (the same one you used to sign up) 15 minutes before game time.

Click check-in for the event. Players that do not check-in will forfeit. The Competition Center will then show you a list of simple steps to get in on the action. This guide is available on all devices: desktop, tablet, and mobile.

5. How to find opponents and send friend requests

The screen will show a check to indicate you’re ready to go for the tournament. Check out some of the videos and articles on the site to kill time while you wait for the check-in period to end.

You’ll automatically be matched with your first opponent and instructed to send a friend request with the click of a button.

Another check will appear when the request is sent:

Your opponent will have 15 minutes to accept the friend request. If your opponent sent the request first, then you’ll have 15 minutes to accept. Make sure your PSN account is set to allow friend requests from anyone, otherwise you and your opponent will not be able to connect.

5a. How to report no show opponents

8. How to play my next match

Explore some of our guides and interviews to better prepare for your next match while you wait for everyone else to finish their first round. Then the process repeats.

You’re matched with another opponent until you play every round depending on the tournament format and title.

9. How to view results

After you’ve played all of your matches and the tournament ends, you’ll be given the option to view results. Click the prompt to see who won and how well you did.

10. How to get better

Even the most recognizable competitive players worked their way up to the top. Remember that losing is part of the experience and you’ll learn more from defeat than victory. Everyone improves at different rates and what might work well for most people might not be the best way for you to get better. Patience, practice, and perseverance are required to excel.

Learn tips and guides from the community, watch videos to sharpen your skills, and play at your own pace. Improvement isn’t a quick progression, but small steps forward. Start with small achievable goals, then work your way up to bigger ambitions.

Have fun and try not to overdo it. Having fun is more important than burning out on something you love.

11. What games can we expect in future PlayStation Tournaments: Open Series?

PlayStation is working with developers and communities to feature a selection of titles that appeal to fans of different genres. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming games. We’d also love to hear what you want to see in the future.
