The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gods recently handed us Season Two, and with it comes a bounty of new items and content. One of the best things (so far) has been the addition of a new Assault Rifle – the FARA 83. 

Let’s deep dive into this digital killing machine for tips and attachments. We’ll cover stats and some of the best loadouts to help experienced and new players slay the competition.

FARA 83 Overview

The FARA 83 is a strong weapon. While the assault rifle does have some drawbacks, it boasts great damage, range, and one of the fastest fire rates for an AR.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The FARA 83’s best attributes are controllable recoil, great range, and the best bullet velocity in its class.
On the negative side, sprint-out time, reload time, and aim down sight time could be better.

How to Unlock the FARA 83

There are two ways to get the FARA 83. You can either unlock it when you reach Tier 15 or purchase the season 2 battle pass. 

Good Damage Output

The FARA 83 takes about 5 to 6 shots to kill someone. Like other assault rifles, there are no body multipliers. For headshots, there’s only a 1.25 multiplier, meaning that you could take someone down with between 2 to 4 headshots.

High Rate of Fire

The FARA 83 firing rate is 800 RPM and second only to the FFAR, according to popular COD streamer TheXclusiveAce. Both weapons are tied in time to kill when it comes to bodyshots. 

That means the FARA isn’t exactly a precision instrument. Aim for the body and you’ll be fine. If you only do headshots you’ll kill extremely fast, although you’re unlikely to get those.

Fastest Bullet Velocity

The FARA 83 has the fastest bullet velocity of any assault rifle at 675m/s. The AK-47 is the slowest at 490m/s.

Longest range

This is one of the categories where the FARA really shines. It has the longest range of any gun in the Assault Rifle class. As a result, almost every gunfight is going to take 5 to 6 shots to win.

The gun still has great range even with a suppressor for stealthier playstyles. Want more distance? The Takedown and the RPK Barrel attachments both increase range by about 150% and 50% respectively. This is a one hit kill machine in hardcore modes.

Standard Hipfire

For hipfire, the FARA is even with pretty much all the other Assault Rifles. It also has only a small sway when aiming down the sights.

Manageable Recoil Pattern

The FARA has a recoil pattern that’s up and to the right. This is one of the more manageable recoil patterns of all the assault rifles, so take advantage to hit more of your shots.

Poor Handling

The handling is where we get some issues. The aim down sight time is the slowest of all the assault rifles, and sprint-out time ranges from standard to slow. 

Improve the Slow Reload Time

Reload time is the slowest in its class. To get ready to fire faster, the GRU Mag Clamp attachment will get your reload time down to 1.35s from a base of 2.25s.

Fast Movement Speed

Sprint movement is really fast with this weapon, while base movement is standard.

Best Fara 83 Loadouts

Balanced Setup

To help negate some of the gun's slow speed issues, use this balanced setup. 

• Suppressor – Helps stay off the radar.
• Spetsnaz Grip – To control recoil even more.
• GRU Mag Clamp – For better reload time.
• GRU Elastic Wrap – Helps improve Aim Down Sight time.
• No Stock – To help negate slow sprint time from wrap.

Elite Setup

This is a more premium setup using the gunfighter wildcard:

• Microflex LED
• GRU Suppressor – Muzzle concealment and recoil control.
• 19.5’’ Liberator – Boost bullet velocity.
• Steady Aim Laser – Boosts hip fire accuracy.
• Spetsnaz Grip – Combined with GRU Suppressor recoil control is incredible.
• VDV 50 Rnd Fast Mag – Add this to speed things up to make this weapon almost like a hybrid SMG.
• GRU Elastic Wrap – Improve Aim Down Sight time.
• KGB Skeletal Stock – To improve movement speed

How Good is the Fara 83?

The FARA 83 is a unique addition to the Assault Rifle class with some real advantages when it comes to fire rate and range. It’s a solid addition to the roster and a great multiplayer weapon despite some speed issues.
