Shotgun Tips & Attachments Guide: Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War

Published on: 12/15/2020
By: Jon Silman

When you think of owning noobs in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, what comes to mind? Probably not a shotgun. While this particular weapon is prevalent in a game like Doom, for some reason it doesn’t get too much love in COD.

The reason has more to do with game design and playstyle than anything else, and the developers decided to include only two shotguns at launch.

Learn how to get the absolute most out of the two available shotguns in Cold War, including what attachments and perks to run in order to dominate any mode.

Let’s dive in.

Hauer 77

Hauer 77

This one-shot kill monster is a pump action weapon based off of the Stevens Model 77E. If the first shot doesn’t take them down, the second definitely will. While it’s powerful, be careful if you miss your shots, because the reload time is significant.

This weapon is meant for enemies that are about 3-4 feet away, but enemies even 20 feet away will go down with two shots. Also, because of the pellet spread with our loadout, accuracy is a little less important.

Here’s one of the best loadouts currently for the weapon:

  • Muzzle: Duckbill Choke (Increases hip fire accuracy)
  • Barrel: 24.1’’ Ranger (Increases range)
  • Body: SWAT 5mW
  • Laser Sight Handle: SASR Jungle Grip
  • Stock: Shotgun Stock

An alternative barrel is the Agency Choke, but that affects mobility, so you need to decide if that trade-off works with your playstyle.

Gallo SA12

Gallo SA12

The selling point of this weapon is the fact that it’s a semi-auto, with low recoil. It’s strong and great for close up fighting. This gun is also a little more forgiving than the Hauer, making it easier to use thanks to bigger clip sizes.

It’s not a guaranteed one-shot kill, and that should be accounted for in the way you play. Instead of setting up for that unlikely one-shot kill, prepare for the two-shot technique.

Here’s a loadout designed to help with range and accuracy for better hip firing.

  • Muzzle: Duckbill Choke
  • Barrel: 21.4’’ Reinforced Heavy
  • Body: SWAT 5mw Laser Sight
  • Magazine: 9 RND Tube
  • Stock: Wire Stock

Wildcard and Perks

The Lawbreaker Wildcard lets you pick multiple perks from the same color, so Gung Ho (sprint firing) goes well with Ghost or Cold-Blooded (for stealth) when using these weapons.
