Vehicle Tips, Tricks, Skins, & Music Guide - Call of Duty: Warzone

Published on: 03/12/2021

There’s something special about getting together with 100 strangers to see who will be the last one standing in Call of Duty. Warzone, one of a slew in a generation of battle royale games, stays around the top because of fun, original game design.

Whether you’ve been around since Modern Warfare, or are just getting started in Verdansk during Cold War, you might wonder how good are vehicles? While players flock to vehicles as a necessity in a lot of multiplayer titles, Warzone strikes a balance between enjoyable and useful.

Vehicles serve specific purposes that can be accomplished in a variety of ways based on your playstyle. Let’s take a look at how to use vehicles, when you should hop on, and when you should leave them alone.

How do vehicles work in Warzone?

Every vehicle in Warzone is different. Some are meant for transport and others are built for protection. They all have health meters and can explode, so be careful. It’s generally a good idea to bail when the health meter is flashing, even if you really want to crash into the enemy.

What are vehicles used for in Warzone?

In addition to outrunning the ever creeping gas circle, vehicles can help players scout territory safely, take down enemies, rotate around the map, and have a blast.

Keep in mind they’re not stealthy. If you’re trying to keep a low profile, stay on foot. If you’re driving and need to use a healing item, use an Armor Plate, or fire at someone, quickly switch seats, and coast.

What are vehicle skins?

Vehicle skins are cosmetic items that offer no gameplay advantage. Buy designs in the shop or unlock them in the battle pass.

What are War Tracks (vehicle music)?

War Tracks are songs unlocked via the battle pass or purchased in the shop. Listen to your favorite in-game music while driving vehicles.

How many vehicles are there in Warzone?

Warzone has five different vehicles as of Cold War Season 2:

  • ATV
  • SUV
  • Tactical Rover
  • Cargo Truck
  • Helicopter

ATV

ATV

The All Terrain Vehicle is the smallest vehicle in Warzone. You can zip around the map and jump over rocks, ramps, and gaps.

The small size of the ATV gives players free rein to travel almost anywhere on the map, a luxury not really afforded to some of the bulkier vehicles.

It’s made for two people, one driver in the front and a shooter in the rear. This makes it ideal for squads of 2. However, there is a way for three people to use the ATV. The third player can stand on the front or the back. They’ll be an easy target, so decide if the extra mobility is worth the risk.

The vehicle’s main drawback is minimal protection from bullets.

SUV

SUV

It’s not speedy, but what this SUV lacks in haste it makes up for in armor. It also makes wider turns than other vehicles.

Players can use the SUV as a moving cover in a firefight. While situational, it acts as a good wall against bullets. Use it to traverse the main roads but avoid going off road with this bulky beast as it can get stuck and become a liability. Chances are anyone nearby will already have their eye on you thanks to the SUV’s loud engine.

Tactical Rover

Tactical Rover

Think of the rover as a souped up ATV with room for four. It still offers little protection, but packs enough speed and tire strength to handle the bumpiest roads Verdansk has to offer.

The front passenger can fire at enemies ahead while the backseat passengers handle the rear. It’s not as maneuverable through forested areas as the ATV, but excels in alleyways and tight streets.

Drivers need to be extra aware of their surroundings since one wrong turn can mean a team wipe. Use evasive maneuvers like zig zag driving under fire and keep an eye out for the glint of a sniper rifle.

Helicopter

Helicopter

The helicopter is the lone aerial vehicle in Warzone and provides some of the best protection. Use one to quickly complete contracts, reach your favorite area, or fly to the center of the circle.

Everyone in the squad can get in on the action. Rain down bullets and use equipment from the passenger positions, while one person pilots. The chopper packs some decent firepower, but is probably one of, if not the least, discreet vehicle in the game. Helicopters are basically moving targets. Enemies will ping you on their map and fire any missiles they can find.

Fortunately there is an alert when someone looks on to the helicopter, so you’ll have some time to fly away or parachute out before exploding.

Cargo Truck

Cargo Truck

The final vehicle in Warzone is the slowest and largest. This bulky truck is also the most armor-laden. It can really take a punch, too. Like the SUV, it can be a good mobile cover in a firefight.

There are two seats up front and room for many more in the back, or even another vehicle! Go prone to stay out of sight in the trunk, otherwise you’ll get downed or even eliminated.

This isn’t a vehicle you want to use to get from one end of the map to the other, but it’s great for carrying loot or protecting your teammates. You can even drive into enemies for easy kills, assuming they don’t get out of the way.

Try not to take cargo trucks off-road and don’t park on hills without completely stopping. They have a tendency to roll.
