Learn rush routes, lines of sight, and spawns to win more Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Open Series Search and Destroy matches on Crossroads Strike.
This traditional three-lane multiplayer map is set in the snowy Uzbek Afghan border. Expect close-range firefights in the central interior sections, while the surrounding exterior offers more room for long-range combat. Will you flank through the middle or camp one of the wide lines of sight?
The 2v2 Open Series variation of Search and Destroy (SND) is just as hectic as the classic 6v6 mode. However, faster pacing and a bigger emphasis on communication make quick thinking even more important for staying one step ahead of the competition.
Dominate both Crossroads Strike bomb sites on offense and defense with some of the best SND weapons, tips, and tactics for a chance to be featured on the Competition Center.
2v2 Search and Destroy offense strategy
There are three main, straightforward paths to take on offense. Teams should vary their route and rotation each round based on the defense’s tactics. For example, if they always go to A, then consider rushing B.
The first lane is to the right or north on the map. This is the most direct route to the B bombsite. Speedy players may even get to the garage that hosts the bombsite before an indecisive opponent. Anticipate point blank firefights around B.
The second path leads through the middle of the map, giving teams more options. Leap from the bridge that connects the buildings to approach either site from the ground-level or stay high to flank the enemy from their spawn side.
The third route is on the left or southern side of the map. This path is a rapid shot to A. While the map might make Crossroads look large, be prepared to arrive at the bombsites very quickly. Conversely to B, teams should expect more long-range shootouts.
No matter the lane taken, it is essential to stick together if you and your teammate want to win the Cold War Open Series. Trade kills or simply overwhelm other players with less risk of 2v1 encounters.
Best SND weapon loadouts for offense
- XM4 (Gunfighter Wildcard): Microflex LED, Infantry Compensator, 13.7” Ranger, Steady Aim Laser, Field Agent Grip. 40 Round Mag, Airborne Elastic Wrap, Raider Pad
- AK-74u: Spetsnaz Compensator, 9.3” Extended Barrel, Spetsnaz Speed Grip, GRU Elastic Wrap, Raider Stock
- LC10: Infantry Compensator, 14.5” Ranger, SFOD Speedgrip, Airborne Elastic Wrap, Raider Stock
Create a powerful XM4 class to hold down bombsites and surprise players caught in the open.
The AK-74u and LC10 are two powerful submachine guns. The former is more controllable and effective at longer ranges while the latter excels at close-range fights that require superhuman reflexes.
SND defense guide
Understanding the offense's paths around Crossroads Strike is crucial to counter every push on defense. Teams often fall into patterns, so set up in effective spots based on their common routes and tendencies.
The red dots indicate the best places to secure target bombsites. You and your partner can both hold a single site to stay together or split for more coverage. Switch positions every round to keep your opponents guessing because they will be extra cautious around your prior positions.
The southernmost dot is a bit risky, but can certainly pay off. If you are quick enough, you can post up behind the structure right next to the A bombsite. Jump out and surprise the enemy after they plant or catch them off guard if they rush past the site.
The dot above that is a great overlook of A. It cannot see the site directly, but provides a clear line of sight to spot anyone on the southern section of the map. The elevation makes it a solid choice for defenders to hold the lane with assault rifles.
The red dot just below B is a dual threat position. You can keep an eye on B from the back entrance or shift over to prevent a push through the middle of the map.
The final dot at the top of the map is just as risky as the first. Getting there quickly is key. The shipping container provides cover and gives you the element of surprise if the enemy team directly pushes B through the top offensive avenue.
Best weapon loadouts for defense
- Krig 6: Millstop Reflex, 19.7” Ranger Barrel, Field Agent Grip. Airborne Elastic Wrap, Raider Stock
- AK-47: Microflex LED, 20” Liberator, Spetsnaz Speed Grip, GRU Elastic Wrap, KGB Skeletal Stock
- AK-74u: Muzzle Brake 5.45, 9.3” Extended Barrel, Foregrip, Taped Mags, KGB Skeletal Stock
- LW3 Tundra: Stabilizer .308, 28.2” Tiger Team, Infiltrator Grip, SASR Jungle Grip. Raider Pad
Any of these weapons will take out offensive players carelessly rushing either bombsite. The Krig 6 is a punishing assault rifle in Black Ops Cold War. It was made for locking down objectives with near non-existent recoil and high damage.
The AK-47 is and will always be a powerhouse weapon. Precise aim will eliminate the opposition with ease. The AK-74u makes an appearance again with a different set of attachments.. It is considered the SMG version of the AK-47.
Normally, a sniper rifle would be the last weapon suggested for a map as compact as Crossroads Strike, but the level has some surprisingly open areas. If one player on your team has the LW3 Tundra on defense, a kill is as guaranteed as it can be in Search and Destroy.
Knowing your way around Crossroads Strike will better ensure victory in the Cold War Open Series.
