Garrison Map Guide: 2v2 Search and Destroy Rush Routes

Published on: 06/15/2021
By: Brandon Moore

Master rush routes, defensive lines of sight, and some of the best classes to win more Search and Destroy matches on Garrison in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Open Series.

Garrison is a deceptively small, cover-filled shooting range that can feel claustrophobic, disorienting, and demoralizing for beginners. Grab a teammate and study this SND guide to help improve your performance regardless of your experience on this traditional three-lane map.

Garrison Rush Routes

Garrison is a straightforward map, but that doesn’t mean players lack options when rushing bombsites. There are multiple approaches to A and B. Each one sets up the opportunity for a flank.

Garrison Rush Routes Map

You should always stay near your teammate when attacking in 2v2 Search and Destroy. Kills can be traded and unwelcome guests on the flank can be stopped. When getting close to a site, however, it is okay to split up and attack from separate angles.

Routes to A

The A site is much more secure than its sibling to the south. Rush out of spawn and use flashes or stuns to clear the elevated room. Mount the boxes and enter the room.

From there, you and your teammate can exit to the immediate right, move further down the corridor to flank the back of the site, or move outdoors even closer to A. Stick together or push apart depending on the situation.

The other path to the A bombsite is through the center of Garrison. Head down the middle of the map to execute a hit on B or fake a plant to bait the opponent on the other objective before rotating to A from the defender side.

B routes

The B bombsite is the easiest to take, but should not be the only option in your game plan. Switch up rush routes and objectives to keep the enemy team on their toes. Keep in mind tackling B from the south gives you the best chance of success because of its multiple approaches with plenty of cover.

You can move back up to the middle lane, sneak through the crawl space, and get behind the site through the nearby room. If you take B, your teammate can continue through the room past the objective to hold the perfect defusal prevention position.

Best attacking loadouts for Garrison SND

  • AK-74u: 10.3” Task Force, Spetsnaz Grip, VDV 50 Round Fast Mag, GRU Elastic Wrap, KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Diamatti: Microflex LED, SOCOM Eliminator, 7.2” Task Force, Fast Mag, Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • LC10: Diamondback Reflex, 13.2” Rifled, SOCOM Eliminator, Field Agent Grip, Airborne Elastic Wrap

The offensive team on Garrison needs to rely on speed. It is imperative to attack the sites fast and use weapons that can fire quickly. The AK-47u has high mobility and packs a huge punch compared to other SMGs.

The close-range battles and small team size of 2v2 SND make the Diamatti a strong pistol. Its quick fire rate and speed ensure kills even in 1v2 situations.

Submachine guns are the bread and butter of any offensive SND strategy. The LC10 is arguably the best SMG in Black Ops Cold War. It is easy to use with unmatched speed, firepower, and accuracy.

Defensive Lines of Sight for SND on Garrison

The cover spread across the map is a dream come true for any Black Ops Cold War player participating in the Open Series. Patiently move around the many lines of sight to all but guarantee a  defensive win.

Defensive positions for A

There are three main angles to hold near the A site.

  • The shipping containers right before the bombsite. You can climb up for a line of sight on the outside walkway or have the high ground against someone trying to flank from mid.
  • A corner even closer to the site is perfect for surprise attacks. Hold it while your teammate watches your back. You can even listen for an approaching enemy or jump out for a kill as soon as the bomb is planted there.
  • The final spot near A requires some speed and flawless movement to reach. Opponents attacking A may choose to push through the indoor hallway. You can hide around the corner to catch them off guard or aim down the corridor to stop them sooner.

B lines of sight

There are also three locations to best defend the B bombsite.

  • The first is just inside the building, behind a stack of boxes. This area can lock down the middle of Garrison. You or your teammate can also rotate to A in no time when needed.
  • The second defensive position is a riskier version of the first, requiring quick feet. Push past the stack of boxes toward the tank. Use the pathway under the tank to get behind opponents or hold any of the middle routes.
  • The crawl space is a wonderful position. The attacking team might try to sneak through it, so get there first. You can also bide your time to pick off players hiding in the crawl space post-plant.

Best SND classes for defense

  • AK-47: Millstop Reflex, KGB Eliminator, Spetzsnaz Grip, 40 Rnd, GRU Elastic Wrap
  • LC10: Diamondback Reflex, 13.2” Rifled, SOCOM Eliminator, Field Agent Grip, Airborne Elastic Wrap
  • AK-74u: 10.3” Task Force, Spetsnaz Grip, VDV 50 Round Fast Mag, GRU Elastic Wrap, KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Streetsweeper: Duckbill Choke, 14.6” Ranger, SWAT 5mw Laser Sight, STANAG 18 RND Drum, Wire Stock

The AK-47 is the best weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. You can even call it a defensive juggernaut. Defenders will rely more on holding angles more than reaction time to succeed. The tight spaces throughout Garrison make recoil control irrelevant, meaning players can easily melt enemies with this weapon’s strong firepower.

The LC10 and AK-74u attachments might look familiar. That is because they are just as good on defense as offense. Both SMGs will get you to effective lines of sight fast.  If you are holding one of the longer routes, go for the AK-74u. If you are waiting for a close-quarters engagement, use the LC10.

Both the Hauer and Gallo are restricted weapons in the Black Ops Cold War Open Series. The Streetsweeper has yet to receive that designation. Take advantage of this shotgun’s round-ending double kill potential. Chipping away from a distance or blowing off limbs from point-blank will drive the enemy team mad.
