The Light Machine Gun is one of the most powerful, versatile weapon classes in both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Season 4’s MG 82 continues that trend. This fast-firing LMG can eliminate hordes of enemies in Zombies, Multiplayer, and Warzone. Fire seemingly endless rounds to support your team with the best MG 82 class setup.
MG 82 Stats
Engage enemies at any range. The MG 82 boosts the fastest fire rate of any LMG in Cold War. It can also hold enemies behind cover for extended periods of time thanks to 100 round magazines.
Balancing out the fire rate is its low damage per shot, which honestly isn’t the worst drawback when you consider its fire rate. The weapon’s biggest weakness is slow handling. Methodically rotate around the map to anticipate enemy routes without worrying about your sluggish movement. Secondaries with quicker handling like pistols are an effective way for more aggressive players to get the MG 82 around the map faster.
MG 82 perks
Forward Intel, Paranoia, and Quartermaster bring the best out of the MG 82 in multiplayer.
- Forward Intel: Flank enemies or maintain advantageous lines of sight through the larger mini-map and spawn indicators.
- Paranoia: Survive dangerous encounters with good reaction speed thanks to the MG 82’s high rate of fire.
- Quartermaster: Large ammo capacity and a slower recommended playstyle give you ample time for lethals & tacticals to recharge.
Best MG 82 loadout
- Optics: Change your optic depending on the map and preferred lines of sight. Use Iron Sights for example, if you’re mostly in short-range firefights.
- Muzzle: Use the Flash Guard 5.56 to conceal muzzle flash. In other words, you will appear on the radar for a lot less time.
- Barrel: Choose a barrel that improves movement speed or range depending on your preferred range. Consider the 17.5” Cavalry Lancer in Warzone for its damage boost to vehicles.
- Body: The SOF Target Designator is ideal for long-range fighting.
- Magazine: With this gun’s incredible 100 round magazine, there’s not much need for improvement. However, the slow reload times can be a bit of a pain, so the Vandal Speed Loader and the 125 Rnd Speed Mag are both good choices. The Speed Loader increases reload speed by almost 50 percent, giving it a slight edge over the 125.
- Underbarrel: To reduce recoil, use either the SFOD Speedgrip, the Field Agent Grip, or The Foregrip. The Speedgrip offers extreme movement speed with reduced recoil for more mobile players.
- Stock: This is a pretty heavy weapon, so the Tactical Stock helps speed up movement.
- Handle: The Airborne Elastic Wrap boosts ADS time significantly.
