The Groza is the newest assault rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It unlocks at Tier 31 as part of the Season 1 Battle Pass. The AR handles well, has a fast fire rate, and pretty good range.
Depending on your loadout, the weapon can be used in a variety of ways, but it’s probably best as a middle-range combat rifle.
Groza Stats and Basics Guide
Youtuber Drift0r did a deep dive on the Groza and how it handles different situations. Here are some of his findings:
- Groza bullet velocity is 650 meters per second, the fastest in the Assault Rifle class.
- It takes about 5 to 6 shots to kill an enemy and deals either 34 or 28 damage depending on the distance to the target.
- A headshot with the Groza takes 1 less shot to kill at every range, with a 1.4x multiplier.
- The maximum damage range for the Groza is 38 meters, which is average for its class.
- The Groza rate of fire is 750 rounds per minute, which is the second-fastest AR.
- It has a reload time of 2.3 seconds.

Here’s another Youtuber named SeeK using the AR. You can see it in action in different scenarios, including hipfire, from a distance, and at close range.
Youtuber M3RKMUS1C is mixed on the Groza. He does well with it on a map like Nuketown, where there are some lines of sight for more range.
Groza Characteristics
Because of its high rate of fire, Drift0r explains, the Groza is more forgiving because a missed shot or two won’t negatively affect the time to kill ratio.
The gun has excellent handling stats, but not great base recoil. Because of this, it is not great for rushing.
This weapon needs recoil-reducing attachments to make it far more accurate.
Mag increasing attachments are great too for capitalizing on the weapon’s range. It’s also a good hose to use as suppressing fire.
The weapon has an above-average muzzle flash, so use a suppressor with the muzzle flash.
Best Groza Loadouts
As discussed previously, there are a few attachments to mitigate some of the Groza’s inherent issues, like recoil and muzzle flash. Here’s a loadout that will boost ammo, handle vertical and horizontal recoil, and give a slight damage range boost. It is a good all-around option.
- Optic: Microflex LED
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 15.7” Contour M2
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Speedgrip
- Ammunition: VDV 60 RND Fast Mag
While it’s not necessarily recommended, here’s a loadout for close-quarters combat. The Ultralight barrel helps with speed when strafing, which is helpful when facing a lot of enemies at once. Optics aren’t necessary since you’ll be using it close up.
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 15.3” Ultralight
- Underbarrel: Infiltrator Grip
- Ammunition: 45 Rnd Speed Mag
- Rear Grip: Dropshot Wrap
If you’re thinking of using the Groza strictly for long-range, here’s a good loadout to consider:
- Muzzle: Muzzle Brake 7.62
- Barrel: 16.7” VDV Reinforced
- Optic: Microflex LED
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Speedgrip
- Ammunition: Spetsnaz 60 Rnd Drum
The Groza is still new, meaning the best setup might still be out there. Experiment with different attachments until you find the best fit!
