Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players aiming to complete every Precision challenge might be left scratching their heads at Hail Mary, but nailing a long shot with the Tomahawk is easier than you think.
I’ve found the most consistent success landing Tomahawk long shots on Moscow while playing either Hardpoint or Domination. You’ll probably want to stick to Hardpoint since most players rush the center of the map to capture the first one.
How to get Long Shot Tomahawk Throws on Moscow
Cross your fingers and hope you spawn on the west side of the map at the start of the game. It is possible to do this from the east side, albeit way harder because players will likely be too close for the challenge by the time you reach the long line of sight.
Sprint around the building and down either staircase toward the middle of the map, but don’t actually enter the center. Instead, position yourself against the wall (red triangle in image above) and ready a Tomahawk straight through the B point on Domination or the initial Hardpoint depending on the mode (red x in image above).
Move your cursor just over the entryway into the central room to throw your lethal equipment in the right spot. It’s better to aim lower than higher because high tosses will hit the wall and low tosses will bounce. If you’ve thrown enough you can likely reach the target based on intuition alone.
If you’re worried about the angle, create a private match with bots and practice until you can consistently nail most of your throws. While players are likely to rush this lane early, that doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to take that path. Even if enemies approach, there’s also the chance that someone might run slightly left or right, meaning small adjustments can make or break the toss. Fortunately, this strategy gives players a more feasible option to get the challenge beyond simply throwing Tomahawks across the map.
Let the Tomahawk fly as soon as you see another player appear in the distance. Wait too long and the toss won’t be far enough. Get lucky playing a mode like Hardpoint and at least two players might charge into your line of sight. You also might want to run the Danger Close Wildcard to double your chances of landing the lethal with an extra toss.
Congratulations on completing the Hail Mary challenge and potentially finishing the Precision Challenges page! Equip your flashy animated calling card to storm the battlefield in style.
