G debuted as the fifth DLC character during the third season of Street Fighter V back when the game was called Arcade Edition. He wants to unify the planet as president of the world and believes fighting will help him grow in popularity on social media.
G is a unique fighter not only in aesthetic, but also in execution. Your game plan is to fill his presidential meter as fast as possible to pressure foes with enhanced specials. If aggression, satire, and a mix of earth energy and lava sound appealing, then G might be the character for you.
Learn how to play the presidential candidate for the best possible run at the top of the leaderboard via tips on basic attacks, uniques, V-Skills, V-Triggers, and more.
G’s Basic Attacks
Every Street Fighter character has three punches and three kicks: light, medium, and hard.
- Punches - His light punch is a jab with short range, his medium is a crossover, and his hard is a slower, more powerful attack. Knock enemies back for some space with a crouching hard punch.
- Kicks - His light kick is a weak low snap, his medium hits the upper body, and his hard hits twice. Sweep enemies with a crouching hard kick.
Here’s a list of G’s moveset. The blue EX box means there’s an EX version of the move that costs one meter of the EX Gauge. All moves are notated for G facing right. Reverse if he’s facing left.
G’s Throws
G has three throws:
- Destroy President lifts up an enemy and snaps them over his knee.
- Shining President can catch an enemy off-guard when they’re crouching.
- Violence President deals the most damage of the three with two hits.
G’s V-Skill Moves
V-skills are actions unique to each character meant to complement a character’s fighting style. Press the medium punch and kick buttons at the same time to use them.
V-Skill 1 – G Barrier and Airborne G Barrier
G-Barrier is a protective sphere that covers G. It can absorb a projectile or be used offensively as a projectile, both on the ground and in the air. To use G Barrier offensively the Maximum President V-Trigger must be activated. The move is also a great anti-air option.
V-Skill 2 – G Protection
G poses while a bell chimes. He can use it three times in a match, and after three bells damage is reduced by 70%. He’ll lose the protection if he’s knocked down but it won’t affect his presidential level. It’s faster than G Charge and allows for some protection during combos.
V-Triggers
To use a V-Trigger, press hard kick and hard punch together when the V-Meter is full.
V-Trigger 1 – Maximum President
Maximum President strengthens G’s special moves to level 3 Presidentialism and gives him the ability to cancel one special move into another in the same combo. One example of this is using G Smash Under into G Spin Kick. This is where he can really shine and deal some serious damage.
V-Trigger 2 – Dangerous President
This turns G’s arms to magma. He can perform a few different moves in this state, like the G Explosion or G Rage, which are both very powerful options.
While G Rage can’t be blocked, it’s easily punishable if it whiffs, so be patient and wait for reads or combos to pull it off.
V-Reversal Inputs and Tips
Press all three punch buttons to use G Revenge.
G Revenge
This reversal knocks an enemy back a long way, helping to relieve pressure and reset the neutral. Because of the space created, G can immediately zone out opponents with projectiles.
G’s Unique Moves
Here are G’s unique attacks.
- Wild President is a spinning back punch that has good range for a poke. If it scores a Crush Counter it will put an enemy into a spinning state. Make sure to use it with space; it's easily punishable at close range.
- Strong President is a great anti-air move with decent range. It will cause a knockdown if it connects, and if the enemy is airborne they’ll go into a juggle state.
- Crash President is an overhead kick that must be standing blocked, so it will connect on anyone crouch guarding.
- Flying President is similar to Zangief’s Flying Body Press – G spreads out and lands belly first. It’s a versatile move that’s a good setup for mix-ups combos. A throw is also a good option after it lands.
- Message To The People is a weird move. It’s basically a speech that builds critical gauge. If he completes the speech the gauge fills up completely. Use it after a combo to build meter for EX versions of attacks.
G’s Special Moves
Learn how to perform all of G’s special moves with the proper inputs:
Critical Arts
Street Fighter V has critical arts, which are similar to super combos. They require a full Critical Gauge to pull off.
Pangea Burst is a fire pillar that advances in a row towards the enemy. G is invincible as long as the move is active. Use it to close the gap and counter zoners since it negates projectiles and deals big damage.
