Whether you’re new to Madden or a seasoned veteran, you probably know that different teams are better than others each year.
Madden NFL 22 is no different. Even casual matches can come down to your team's overall rating. Stats like speed, accuracy, and strength change the experience when you use Brady and the Buccaneers as opposed to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Use this handy guide to learn which teams to play and avoid on the gridiron.
The best Madden NFL 22 teams
If you want to just pick up and play, the Bucs, Chiefs and Packers are the way to go. They’re followed by the Ravens, Browns, Bills, Cowboys, Cardinals, Titans, and the Chargers.
Breaking down the top 5
Numbers are helpful, but let’s explore how those overall, offense, and defense numbers translate into some of the best teams.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs are the best team for a reason. They put down the Kansas City Chiefs when no one thought that was even possible.
The team’s king of course is Tom Brady, who comes in with a 97 rating. He makes plays happen that seem impossible on most rosters.
The team also has Lavonte David, possibly the most undervalued defensive player in the league. David has a 93 rating. Mike Evans is a star receiver at a 91 rating and left guard Ali Marpet comes in with a 90.
Also on this stacked team are DT Vita Vea at 88. Both center Ryan Jensen and RT Tristan Wirfs are at 89. Your key players will have no problem keeping up with the league’s strongest competition.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs could have easily held the top spot if the Superbowl went a different way.
They are also stacked, with five players rated above 90. QB Mahomes is almost perfect at 99, but tight end Travis Kelce also shares that rating. Kelce is also the fastest player in the game.
WR Tyreek Hill comes in at 90, safety Tyrann Mathieu slides through at 95 and Chris Jones, a defensive tackle, has a 92 rating.
Only five players in the game have a 99 rating. The Chiefs have 2 of them. That’s pretty much all you need to know.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers top 5 players are all pretty phenomenal. Davante Adams is one of the best wide receivers in the game at a 99 rating. Just throw it to him for more consistent catches and yards.
QB Aaron Rodgers may have run into some controversy off the field, but in Madden he still surpasses nearly every other QB. Only Brady and Mahomes rank better.
David Bakhtiari is the top rated tackle in the game. While real life Bakhtiari suffered some injuries, he’s ready to stop nearly every push in Madden NFL 22.
Rounding out the five are Jaire Alexander, one of the league’s best cornerbacks and Aaron Jones, a lightning fast running back.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are a good team overall but Ronnie Stanley and Marlon Humphrey are the two obvious standouts with a 93 rating (fourth out of all left tackles) and a 92 rating (fifth for cornerbacks) respectively.
Justin Tucker’s rating was recently improved to 99 after he hit a record-setting field goal in early October. You’re almost always better sticking to a single team versus constantly switching your options based on developments throughout the season. Familiarity and consistently win games.
Cleveland Browns
Cleveland’s resurgence has been a long time coming. With an overall rating of 86, the team has some real firepower like WR Odell Beckham Jr., LG Joel Bitonio, CB Denzel Ward, and RB Nick Chubb.
Defensive End Myles Garret cruises in with a 98 rating overall, and Chubb has a 96.
While they may not be the best team on the field, they are damn close. Remember, the best players can dominate with any team.
The worst Madden NFL 22 teams
Stay away from the Bengals, Lions, Jaguars, Panthers and especially the New York Jets, the only team with a below 70 rating overall.
