Mobility. Speed. Effectiveness. These are all essential skills needed to improve and dominate in multiplayer in COD. Fortunately vehicles add all three to your arsenal.
Some players often overlook the importance of vehicles, choosing to instead run and gun. Vehicles are there for a reason, so get around the map faster, take different routes, and shoot from your favorite vehicle.
Here’s a guide to every vehicle in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer. Learn how to use ground vehicles like snowmobiles, water vehicles such as the Gunboat, and aircraft like helicopters to win more games.
Ground Vehicle Tips
The Snowmobile
The Snowmobile appears on the maps Crossroads and Alpine. It’s fairly easy to handle and controls like you’d expect.
Sneak behind past enemy lines and find a favorable position or hop on with a teammate to open fire on the fly. They’re also ideal for closing long distances like getting from building to building quickly in Alpine.
Motorcycle
The dirt bike, or motorcycle, is a fast moving two wheel vehicle designed for fast rotations. Think of it as the warm weather version of the snowmobile available on Cartel and Ruka.
The great thing about motorcycles is they’re hard to hit despite catching everyone’s attention because of their speed. It’s also hard to not feel humiliated if a motorcycle runs you over.
T-72 Tank
The T-72 is a Soviet battle tank built to obliterate whatever it crosses. It’s available in the Combined Arms mode on Crossroads and in Fireteam maps. Tanks can be controlled by 2 people – one operates the whole tank including the turret, while the other person mans the machine gun. They randomly spawn.
Expect fairly cumbersome and slow movement in exchange for power. It can one-shot vehicles like snowmobiles and withstand up to 6 rockets before blowing up. Watch out for other tanks. Two shots is all they need to ruin your day. Land mines can instantly destroy tanks, however they need to drive over one, making the equipment less reliable.
Ships / Water Vehicles Tips
Tactical Raft
Introduced in Season one, this quick moving water vehicle is available on the Sanatorium Fireteam map. Travel as a team for a more coordinated rotation.
Wakerunner
Quickly traverse the water around the ships in Armada. Wakerunners are fairly speedy and can jump off ramps around the map. Use them to help you grab objectives and flank foes from different positions.
Gunboat
The gunboat is the game’s big daddy water vehicle. It has a large machine gun on with a high rate of fire, surprising mobility for a large craft, and a lot of strength.
You can even sink other gunboats with ease on Armada. Take out players on ziplines from a distance, but watch out for snipers. Drivers are easy targets for anyone that’s good with a rifle.
Aircraft / Flying Vehicle Tips
Mi-24 Hind and UH-1 Iroquois Helicopters
There are two helicopters in Cold War: The Mi-24 Hind and the UH-1 Iroquois. The Hind is available in Fireteam game modes. Watch out for rockets or strong secondaries. It might be easy to crash, although scoring a high kill count can be just as simple in the right hands.
This helicopter handles smoothly and has a high rate of fire. Hover over a position and hammer away at enemies and their defenses. You’ll get the chance to parachute when shot down, so don’t give up until the kill cam plays.
The UH-1 Iroquois appears in the campaign. Multiplayer fans might be more familiar with it as the Chopper Gunner.
AC-130
This scorestreak changes your view to a grayscale screen and reticle allowing for quick, decisive kills in multiplayer. It has two 105 rounds, four 40 rounds, and a lot of 25 rounds. Don't forget to frequently switch to save time between reloads. Kill as fast as you can because the other team will try to shoot you down as soon as possible.
