The RLCS X Winter Split introduces new formats and rules along with the new year. Following a successful Fall Split, the revised competition aims to excite players and fans alike.
Regional Format
Each RLCS X split features a different format. For the Winter Split, it's a double-elimination bracket. Lose twice, and you're out. The Losers Bracket team will need to beat the Winners Bracket team twice: once to reset the bracket, and once to win the Grand Finals.
The Winter Split cuts the number of teams from 32 to 24. The top 10 teams from RLCS Season 9 qualify, plus the two highest-scoring teams. The top teams from Open Qualifiers fill the remaining 12 spots.
The Grid
To accommodate players' stuffed schedules and holiday celebrations, The Grid cut its weekly competitions down to four for the Winter Split. Each circuit plays out over two days instead of one.
Sixteen teams each from Europe and North America divide into four groups of four teams. On Day One, teams play through a round-robin group stage for seeding and points. Then, on Day Two, the teams are seeded into a single-elimination bracket based on Day One placements. Whoever wins becomes the weekly The Grid champion.
What is The Grid: Overtime?
The Grid: Overtime is a new streaming option that broadcasts The Grid on Rocket League Twitch and Youtube channels. Fans don't need to hop around different sources for The Grid content, but they can still support their favorite teams from their own channels!
