TheMightyUnjust dominated the first Mortal Kombat 11 Open Series Weekly Invitational for North America.

Unjust's steady presence in the MK community persists both online and offline across multiple NetherRealm Studio games. His unpredictable character choices exemplify his versatility and adaptability.

This first week kicked off with clashes between rising stars and new names. Read the results and watch with casters Ketchup and Mustard to witness Krushing Blows, Fatalities, and even Friendships.

North America Bracket

Unjust swept MK2eZ- in Grand Finals to win the $250 prize. Runner-up 2eZ pocketed $150, and ATLFierce and xMercyNotGiven each earned $100 for third and fourth place.

Winners Quarters: MK2eZ- (Sub-Zero) Vs. xMercyNotGiven (Liu Kang) 3-1

The first match of the day was pure rushdown. Newcomer Mercy snatched the first win with a well-timed fatal blow. Simplicity Esports' 2eZ may have been less familiar with Liu Kang's Wu Shi Legend variation, but he quickly adapted to the swift pokes and fiery teleports. He read his opponent and countered with an icy comeback.

Winners Semis: ATLFierce (Skarlet) Vs. zicronium20 (Baraka) 3-0

Fierce, who has a record of playing fast, aggressive characters, started with Skarlet. However, Mustard pointed out that Skarlet’s Heart Piercer variation offers more mobility with her teleport and parries. Skarlet pulled off patient zoning that made it difficult for Baraka to get close enough for a grab. Zicronium tried to change momentum by switching his variation from Bone Picker to Marauder, but it didn’t help him.

Winners Semis: TheMightyUnjust (Erron Black, Geras) Vs. MK2eZ- (Sub-Zero) 3-2

Ketchup and Mustard crowned this winner's semifinals match between Unjust and 2eZ the Klash of the Day. Unjust won the first round, but 2eZ adjusted to his playstyle in the second round and read his Erron Black. After, Unjust made the crucial switch to Geras, a more damage heavy, grappler character. They traded back to back wins until Unjust snatched the last round.

Losers Semis: MK2eZ- (Sub-Zero) Vs. xMercyNotGiven (Liu Kang) 3-0

After losing to Unjust, 2eZ rematched Mercy. Mercy came back with a couple of round wins and almost managed to pull a clutch victory their second set, but couldn't keep up with 2eZ’s quick combos.

Winners Finals: TheMightyUnjust (Kabal) Vs. ATLFierce (Kung Lao, Skarlet) 3-0

Unjust read Fierce's attacks and mercilessly whiff punished to move onto the Grand Final. Fierce couldn't pin down Unjust's quick combos with Skarlet's blood balls. He switched to Kung Lao but couldn’t turn the match in his favor.

Losers Finals: MK2eZ- (Shang Tsung, Scorpion) Vs. ATLFierce (Kung Lao, Skarlet) 3-1

Fierce and 2eZ both lost against Unjust, so this match was for the runback. 2eZ showed off his versatility, countering Fierce’s Kung Lao with Shang Tsung and even changing to Scorpion against Skarlet. Fierce fought back with Skarlet’s Blood Drive variation and managed to win the set before 2eZ finished her off.

Grand Finals: TheMightyUnjust (Geras) Vs. MK2eZ- (Sub-Zero) 3-0

Unjust's semifinals match against 2eZ was close, but by Grand Finals the download was complete. Unjust consistently parried 2eZ's efforts to close the gap and sank him in well-timed sand traps. 2eZ retaliated with a couple of round wins but not enough to claim a full set.

Some of the matches were cut from the stream due to time constraints:

  • zicronium20 Vs. xMercyNotGiven 3-0

The following participants were unfortunately unable to paricipate:

  • AlmightyRednose
  • Lycanthos-I-
