Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a battle royale, platformer in the style of a Japanese game show. Think Mario Party mini-games, except swap the Mushroom Kingdom aesthetic with comical traps, obstacles, and customizable characters. Developer Mediatonic cited Takeshi’s Castle, Total Wipeout, and It’s a Knockout as inspiration.
Race to the finish, survive, and collect objects to advance to the next round in a series of over the top mini-games or face elimination. Up to 60 people can join one episode, or game, of online multiplayer. Learn how to grab, dive, and jump to the front of the pack for more Fame.
What is Fall Guys? Mechanics and Gameplay
Every game of Fall Guys starts with a full lobby of players eager to dive and grab their way to the next Round. The game randomly selects one of the 20+ Rounds, or mini-games, to start barring a few exceptions saved for the finale. Finish too slow, fall off certain levels, or score too few points and you’re out. Lobbies are whittled down until a handful of players reach the fifth and final Round. Last one standing wins the Crown and the episode.
There are six types of Rounds -
- Race: Requires speed to finish before other players.
- Survival: Requires tenacity to outlast the competition.
- Logic: Requires smarts to outwit foes.
- Team: Requires cooperation to outscore/outpace enemies.
- Hunt: Requires collecting more items than the other teams/players to win.
- Final: Only appear as the fifth Round, but fall under the other categories.

How to Win Every Round in Fall Guys
PlayStation Access produced an excellent guide to collecting the most crowns. Learn how to improve your placements, finish faster, and play with more confidence thanks to these beginner tactics and techniques for every single Round.
More Rounds are confirmed for future updates.
What are Crowns
Crowns are a form of currency used to unlock new skins, colors, and emotes. They’re also the hardest collectable to get because they cannot be bought in the PlayStation Store. Finish first in an episode or reach specific levels of Fame during every season of Fall Guys to earn more Crowns.
What are Kudos
Perform better in episodes to earn more Kudos and purchase additional cosmetics and celebrations. Unlike Crowns, Kudos can be purchased in the PS Store.
How to Grab in Fall Guys
Press R2 to reach out your arms. Your Fall Guy will grab any player or object within their short range. A visual cue and a suction sound indicate you’ve latched on to another contestant. Press the Right Stick in the direction you want to push or pull. Master grab timing and positioning to stop other players, thwart their momentum, or simply ruin their day with a hug straight into the abyss of elimination.
You can also grab ledges to pull yourself up in some of the Rounds like Whirlygig.
How to Dive in Fall Guys
Press Square to Dive forward and gain a short burst of speed to pass players at the finish line. Remember to dive to increase your jump distance and overcome obstacles with greater ease. For example, dive under the propellers in Whirlygig to take the middle shortcut, dive across tiles to cut corners in Tiptoe, and dive to survive Hex-A-Gone.
Struggling to hunt down other players in games like Jinxed and Tail Tag? Try diving and grabbing.
