Soriz, the old-timer that believes the body is the only reliable weapon, bursts into battle. He never skips leg or any training day ever and sees paradise extend before him between intense rock-smashing sessions. Soriz still has soft spots after conquering every competition he entered for almost 70 years. He reads the kind of books that make you blush and is easily persuaded by the ladies.
Soriz is a brawler. He pressures opponents and deals high damage. Absorb blows with Muscle Fury and counter with Reactive Muscles. Use Macho Ultimatum to enhance his skills and send foes home with the Way of the Fundoshi Fist.

Overview: Fundamentals and Mission Training
Soriz is flashy and fierce. He punches holes in the ground to attack with pillars of fire. This rushdown fighter is hard to pick up and play, although highly rewarding to master. Practice the All-Crushing Fist’s unique armor attack and additional Macho Ultimatum moves to prosper against any opponent. Otherwise, you’ll have trouble getting in and might never get your turn to hit buttons.
Streamer and FGC content creator NihongoGamer, a lover of games, art, and coffee, shared invaluable insight into the character.
Soriz’s unique attack is Muscle Fury. It has armor and absorbs every attack, except throws and Skybound Arts, to reduce damage. Follow up with Reactive Muscles to counter and boost his SBA gauge.
The circle icon under Soriz’s health increases by one after absorbing an attack and maxes out at level five. The old-timer takes considerably less damage at higher levels when Macho Ultimatum is active.
Macho Ultimatum is Soriz’s Super Skybound Art. He strips down to a fundoshi, but powers up. This 70-year-old is harder to topple toward the end of the round thanks to enhanced skills and extra moves. Some are faster, while others are bigger. Follow Punch the Stars with Tenacious Will and Bravado Bullet during Macho Ultimatum to build damage and pressure.
Soriz is never out of the game until the round is over. If you’re really struggling, Macho Ultimatum won’t save you. Practice the basics and fundamentals before jumping online.
Beginner Combos
Soriz wants to get in and combo primarily at close-range. Many of his moves have plus frames. Test combos in Training Mode to master optimal routes. Soriz moves slow and lacks an invincible DP, but brute force and combo potential cover his weaknesses.
FGC YouTuber KINGPHANTOM showcased some of Soriz’s midscreen combos, then emphasized the importance of capitalizing on corner combos.
Soriz has decent anti-air combos in the neutral. Condition your opponent to read their movement and maximize damage.

Soriz Move and Command List
Unique Action | Muscle Fury | X (Chargeable) | [Armor] Gains armor against all attacks other than throws and Skybound Arts. Damage is still taken from incoming attacks but reduced with every hit taken. This skill can be extended by holding the button down. |
Unique Action | Reactive Muscles | Right + Square, Triangle, or Circle during Muscle Fury | Follows up Muscle Fury with a head-to-toe flex attack that greatly increases Soriz’s SBA gauge upon contact. Use this skill to counter incoming attacks during Muscle Fury. |
Skill | Impact Knuckles | Quarter circle forward + Square or Triangle or Circle | [Advancing] Performs a dashing punch attack. Triangle/Circle: Covers a longer range. Dashing speed will increase when used during Macho Ultimatum. |
Skill | Roundhouse Fang | Quarter circle down then right + Square, or Triangle, or Circle | Performs an upward kick attack. This skill is effective as an anti-air but doesn’t have invincibility, so be careful not to use it at the wrong time. When used during Macho Ultimatum, this skill gains a larger hitbox. |
Skill | Punch the Stars | Quarter circle back + Square, or Triangle, or Circle | Performs a multi-hit punching attack. Triangle/Circle: Advances forward before attacking. When used during Macho Ultimatum, it’ll deal additional hits and can be followed up with unique follow-up attacks. |
Skill | Tenacious Will | Quarter circle back + Square, or Triangle, or Circle during Macho Ultimatum’s Punch the Stars | Follows up Punch the Stars with a flying kick attack. This skill doesn’t cause knockdown, but has a relatively fast recovery even if blocked. |
Skill | Bravado Bullet | Quarter circle forward + Square, or Triangle, or Circle during Macho Ultimatum’s Punch the Stars | Follows up Punch the Stars with a spinning back fist attack, causing guard crush. This skill has a slow recovery, so be careful not to use it haphazardly. |
Skill | Rock Smash | Down, Down + Square, or Triangle, or Circle | Strikes the ground to unleash a pillar of fire. Triangle: Has a slow start-up but a fast recovery, so Soriz will be able to move before the foe, even if it’s blocked. When used during Macho Ultimatum, this skill gains a larger hitbox. |
Skybound Art (Requires 100% SBA gauge) | Leaping Tiger, Charging Dragon | Quarter circle forward, quarter circle forward + Circle | [Invincible] Performs a powerful punching attack. This skill doesn’t cover a long range, so use it to interrupt a foe’s offense or as a combo finisher. |
Super Skybound Art (Requires 100% SBA gauge and 30% or lower HP) | Macho Ultimatum | Quarter circle forward, quarter circle forward + X | Unleashes the power of the fundoshi until the end of the round. While in his fundoshi, Soriz’s skills and defense will be enhanced, and he will gain access to skills previously unavailable. His defense will be enhanced based on the number of attacks withstood with Muscle Fury. |
Super Skybound Art (Requires 100% SBA gauge and 30% or lower HP) | Way of the Fundoshi Fist | Quarter circle forward, quarter circle forward + X | Performs a powerful four-hit combo attack. This Super Skybound Art doesn’t consume any of Soriz’s SBA gauge but can only be used once per round during Macho Ultimatum. The first strike causes guard crush, rendering any unfortunate soul struck by it vulnerable to the rest of this devastating combo. |
