Tim
What are some of your personal goals as a coach?
Boble
Bringing a championship to New York, especially in the first year would mean a lot to me.
Other than that, I want to see my players grow as people, as competitors, and I want to see them become the best versions of themselves that they can be. I want to be able to create a team that people want to play for.
I want to be the team that when people become free agents, we're the first that they go to. I want people on other teams to feel bad that they're not part of the Subliners. I want to be that team that teams fear playing against.
Tim
Let's move on to franchising and New York. How does it feel to represent New York in the competitive circuit?
Boble
I have a lot of pride when I say I play for New York, my home state. Being able to impact all these players going through a similar system that I went through, definitely means a lot to me, personally.
All those things considered, if I could pick any team out there to be a part of the CDL, New York was number one on my list. I really do mean it when I say how happy I am to be part of this organization.
Tim
Do you feel any pressure representing your home state?
Boble
A lot of the culture in New York sports is if you're not winning, getting to the playoffs consistently, and putting yourselves in the championship match, it's almost like New Yorkers don't even know you exist. There's definitely that pressure of potentially being rejected by our fan base if we're not super competitive and making it deep into tournaments.
Everything else just kind of comes easy. I've been ingrained in New York culture all my life. I think we're going to handle the expectations pretty well.
Tim
You're one of the first New York esports teams. I know there's also an Overwatch team, but would more competitive gaming teams franchising in New York impact anything for you?
Boble
I know there are two Los Angeles teams in the CDL. Having that kind of interstate rivalry, I think is fun, like the Knicks versus the Nets with what you're seeing in basketball. I would love to get into a position like that.
Tim
I probably would have said the Mets and the Yankees, but same thing.
Boble
(Laughs)
