Part 12: Subliners Culture, Creativity, Quirks

Tim

So tell me five words that embody the Subliners culture.

Boble

I'd say one, integrity.

Two, ethic.

Three, hardworking.

Four is foresight.

Five. Let's say creative.

Tim

How so?

Boble

Creative in the strategies that we're going to show in the game, creative people behind the scenes working on the content that we want to do for the team, and being able to think outside the box adds a lot of value to anything that you're going to do.

Tim

I'd like to ask about some of the creative outside the box strategies you have planned in-game, but I'm not sure you want to reveal those.

Boble

For Black Ops 4 in multiplayer, we didn't have a smoke grenade. So that took away a lot of the strategic capabilities. In this game, we have a smoke grenade that can be consistently used. So we definitely had some fancy things worked up for smokes.

Tim

Should I press further?

(Laughs)

Boble

(Laughs)

Not just yet. Maybe in a future interview.

Tim

You know, It's too bad you can't put down some claymores and smoke in a competitive game.

Boble

(Laughs)

Do you really want to see something like that?

Tim

Nah, I'm just messing with you.

Boble

(Laughs)

Tim

Let's talk about branding. Does your team have a motto or anything like that?

Boble

I don't think we have a motto. For example, I know for the Excelsior team, they have ever upward. I think they're still trying to create one specifically for Subliners.

Tim

I did some digging online and couldn't really find anything. So why should people root for the Subliners?

Boble

We have a personality on the team that each and every person can relate to. When it comes to our serious leader to some of the jokesters and everything in between. We have a lot of trolly funny personalities that I think people will latch on to. Really from the top down within our company we're here for our community.

We want to be able to relate and ingrain the community into each and everything that we're doing. We want to try to get championships for you guys. But we also want you to have accessibility to us, as coaches, as players, and we want to bridge the gap.

One thing we see in traditional sports, it's a lot harder to get to know some of the star players. We want you guys to know our players as much on a personal level as can be. So you should want to support us because we're going to be here supporting you, with each and every step.

Tim

Can you tell me a bit more about those personalities or quirks that you brought up?

Boble

Let's start with Accuracy. He's our in-game leader. He's more of our serious guy. When you talk to Marty he's usually straight down to business, more straight-up personality.

Then we have Dillon or Attach. He's our trolly guy. Dillon's always looking for ways to troll us or get under our skin just so he gets some comedy out of it.

Then we have ZooMaa. He's one of the jokester slash level headed guys that we have on the team. Within the scene, we call him the Italian Stallion. He's a big family guy. Family first.

We also have Temp. He's just a straight-up clown. He's always making everybody laugh. It seems like everything that comes out of his mouth is comedic. If you've ever seen some of the interviews that he’s given in the past, you know that he's not afraid to say what's on his mind and you know that everything he's going to say is going to get a laugh out of somebody. He's definitely key to our team because he keeps things light for us.

Then we have our fifth player. Zer0 or Trei. He's a European guy. Some quirks that he brings to the team is he uses all this European lingo that we have no idea what it means. He's just another funny character to add to the mix of people that we already have on the squad.

Tim

I'd love to hear a story that expresses some trolling and those other quirks.

Boble

A lot of it comes down to when we're watching a film and we're watching a play that Dillon made. Dillon will know that he made the wrong play, but he'll play into it a little bit because he knows it'll get under Lamar's skin. Then when we hear the steam starting to build up in Lamar, Dillon will be like, haha, I'm just trolling and get everybody laughing. Then Donnie, Temp, and ZooMaa will chime in with something funny.

I guess I don't really have a specific story. We live through this every day. These guys have really good rep with one another and I think if you spent some time with our team and listened to them play and interact with each other, you could tell that we have a deep level of chemistry.

Tim

Do you have any plans in the future for some type of interaction with the team?

Boble

We're currently trying to work things out with the content team to make our players accessible both to fans and media. The League literally just released its world tour schedule yesterday. That's one thing we have to work around, but now that we have those firm dates in our hands, we can start to iron out some of those future plans and really build things out for the community.
