Part 4: Subliners Tournament Performance

Tim

Getting back to the action of the tournament, what did you think of the Subliners performance?

Boble

I gotta say some of the teams that my duos made were really good. Accuracy was playing with some top tier players like Slasher and Kenny. ZooMaa and Attach were also on a great team as well. Those guys were kind of my favorite. I thought that they were going to make it to the finals, or at least make it to Sunday, but that wasn't the case.

Chemistry is huge and knowing exactly what your teammates are going to do at every given moment is something that separates really good teams from poor teams. It's hard to establish that kind of chemistry when you split up players like that.

We wound up finding that Zer0 and Censor, even though they were probably our least likely duo to make it through to Sunday, they made it that far, which is good to see. It was nice to have some of our players make it to the final day, but the other guys had opportunities.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't make it that far, but it's still a brand new game. I'm not going to fault them too much, but I'll still pick at them for the fact that those two made it further than the other four.
(Laughs)

Tim

Going off your disappointment and picking at them, if you could go back in time, what would you tell your team prior to the competition?

Boble

Attach's team was playing against Karma's team. They were up in Search and Destroy. They were on map point to win and advance to the next round. They had more people alive than the other team. If this was a league match or tournament situation on LAN, they probably wouldn’t lose. But because there's a new game and online, there's a small lapse in judgment.

That small lapse in judgment led to them getting clutched on and the other team made a comeback in Search and then eliminated them from the tournament. So my piece of advice would be, don't rush to close out the game.

Tim

What is the biggest takeaway from the tournament for your team?

Boble

We know that we have the experience now to continue to put on online tournaments like this if we want to continue going down that path. It's just another thing that we add. We have a team that can add to the Call of Duty ecosystem in ways that some of these other teams don't have the experience of doing. That makes us more unique and valuable to the community.
